The belief in free will: Source and status

The problem of free will is old and complex. Recent empirical work suggests that people believe that we have indeterminist free will and also that moral responsibility depends on this free will. This poses a major puzzle, since the belief in indeterminist free will is rather a complicated belief. This talk explores why people believe in indeterminist free will and the extent to which their beliefs about free will and moral responsibility are justified.
