"Competition, Interference, and Cognitive Control in Picture Naming".
Individuals with aphasia experience exaggerated interference from competing
representations when they name pictures. In this talk, I will review recent
behavioral data, error analysis, and lesion-symptom mapping aimed at
understanding the nature and time course of semantic interference in naming
and whether damage to left inferior frontal cortex (LIFG) confers
vulnerability to competitive interference.
